ABOUT US
Our Beginnings
When Lillian, founder of iGlamor Bar, was a young girl growing up in the Bronx, her Dominican mother ensured she learned hair styling—a common tradition in many Dominican families. Despite this skill, Lillian often felt like the “ugly duckling.” Without sisters and struggling to find her place as an unpopular child in school, she turned to movies and dress-up for solace, idolizing glamorous actresses. She loved experimenting with her mother’s makeup, though her early attempts often left her face a playful mess.
Determined to transform her self-image, Lillian became fascinated with beauty and devoted herself to learning the art of glamour. By the time she graduated from Hunter College in 2006 with a BA in psychology, the rise of YouTube makeup tutorials had taken the internet by storm. Inspired, she practiced relentlessly, honing her skills every day. Her dedication led to the creation of her blog, iGlamor Bar, in 2010, where she shared her passion for beauty, skincare, fashion, and all things GLAM.
Initially working in the social services field after college, Lillian discovered that while she loved serving people, the bureaucracy and red tape left her unfulfilled. Realizing her true passion lay in beauty, she made a bold decision to attend beauty school. This step marked the beginning of her journey into the world of esthetics, culminating in the creation of iGlamor Bar, where she now empowers others to feel confident and beautiful.
Getting to Work
From a young age, Lillian loved experimenting with makeup, but years of trial and error—combined with overzealous use of apricot scrubs inspired by countless commercials—left her skin damaged with hyperpigmentation and scars. Determined to heal her skin and help others avoid the same mistakes, she began working in various spas across NYC, learning invaluable techniques from experienced mentors. Her passion for the beauty industry grew, and she knew that one day, she would start her own business.
Lillian’s journey began humbly, working out of a small room in her home. At the same time, she was enduring a devastating divorce that shattered her self-esteem. Despite her personal struggles, she found strength in her work. Clients adored her, and demand for her services steadily grew. Eventually, she took a leap of faith, leaving her full-time job to dedicate herself entirely to her business—a decision that transformed her passion into a thriving career.
Learning Self-Love
After her divorce, Lillian found herself thriving professionally but emotionally shattered. As her business grew, so did the deep bonds she formed with her clients. Together, they uplifted one another. Lillian empowered her clients through self-care, while they reminded her of her own worth, showing her that the value she brought to their lives was far greater than she had realized.
Through this mutual support, Lillian came to understand a profound truth: self-worth isn’t defined by being loved by a partner or having a large circle of friends. It’s about recognizing that you are deserving of your own love. Sharing this love and helping others realize their worth creates a sense of fulfillment that no external validation can provide.
The journey to this realization wasn’t easy, but it gave Lillian a newfound purpose: to help others who might believe that love and self-worth are tied solely to appearances or external approval. Her mission now is to show them that true confidence begins within.
